Bank account hierarchy with JUnit tests

Design an abstract Account class with CheckingAccount and SavingsAccount subclasses. Savings accrue monthly interest, checking charges an overdraft fee, and invalid withdrawals throw a custom exception.

Requirements
  • Abstract base class with an encapsulated balance
  • Subclasses override withdraw() and monthEnd()
  • Custom InsufficientFundsException
  • JUnit 5 tests for every public method
02The solution
SavingsAccount.java22 lines
1/** Savings account that earns monthly interest. */
2public class SavingsAccount extends Account {
3 private final double annualRate; // 0.03 means 3%
4
5 public SavingsAccount(String id, double rate) {
6 super(id);
7 this.annualRate = rate;
8 }
9
10 @Override
11 public void withdraw(double amount) throws InsufficientFundsException {
12 // savings can never go negative, so no overdraft
13 if (amount > getBalance())
14 throw new InsufficientFundsException(amount - getBalance());
15 setBalance(getBalance() - amount);
16 }
17
18 @Override
19 public void monthEnd() {
20 setBalance(getBalance() * (1 + annualRate / 12));
21 }
22}

1.
Why Account is abstract
There is no such thing as a plain account in the spec, so the base class can’t be instantiated. Shared state lives there once.
2.
Overriding withdraw()
Each subclass owns its own rule: savings refuse to go negative, checking allows it and charges a fee.
3.
Testing interest
Tests compare doubles with a 1e-9 tolerance, so rounding never causes false failures.

How it works

From upload to predicted budget in under a minute.

The AI does one job: it predicts your price. A senior engineer reviews your files and sets the final number.

  1. 01
    Step 1 of 4

    Upload your files

    Prompt, rubric, starter code, or a screenshot of the task. PDF, DOCX, ZIP, code or images, in any mix.

  2. 02
    Step 2 of 4

    The AI asks what’s missing

    It confirms your due date, then asks up to 3 questions your files don’t answer. Each one has an “I don’t know” option.

  3. 03
    Step 3 of 4

    See your predicted budget

    A price range appears right away. No email, no sign-up.

  4. 04
    Step 4 of 4

    A senior engineer confirms your price

    Leave your email. Within 5 minutes you get one fixed price. It never goes above the top of your range.

No payment to get a price. You pay only after you accept the fixed price. If the AI can’t price your files, an engineer emails you a price instead.

team@domyprogramminghomework.io
Which Java version do you use?

Whatever your course requires, from Java 8 to 21. Upload the starter code and we match it.

Can you work with my starter code and autograder?

Yes. We keep your package names, method signatures and file layout exactly as given.

Do you write the JUnit tests too?

Every Java order includes tests for public methods. If your course provides tests, we make sure they pass.

Is the predicted budget the final price?

Not exactly, but it’s capped. Our team reviews your files and sends one fixed price before you pay anything, and it never goes above the top of your range.

What if you miss my deadline?

You get a full refund, back to your card through Stripe. It’s in our refund policy, in writing.
